Perfect Southern Green Beans

Ingredients

4 slices uncooked bacon, sliced into small pieces
1 cup white onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 pound fresh green beans, stems removed
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
1/2 teaspoon creole seasoning
salt and pepper, to taste

Directions

Heat a large pot or dutch oven on medium-high heat.

Add in the pieces of bacon and cook until the bacon crisps, about 3-4 minutes.

Drain the excess fat from the pot, reserving a teaspoon of the fat in the pot.

Add in the onions and garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes, until fragrant.

Add in the chicken broth and deglaze the pot with a spatula, scraping up the bits of cooked bacon.

Add in the green beans, creole seasoning, salt, and pepper to taste, then stir.

Reduce the heat to low. Then, cover and cook for 1-1 1/2 hours until the green beans are tender.

Season with salt & pepper and serve.
