Authentic French Toast

Ingredients

4 slices of day-old bread (brioche or challah)
2 large eggs
1 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
Butter for frying

Directions

Whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon in a large bowl until smooth.

Dip each bread slice in the custard mixture for 10-15 seconds per side.

Melt butter in a pan over medium heat. Add soaked bread slices and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden.

Serve hot with powdered sugar, syrup, berries, or whipped cream.
