Easiest Homemade Flatbread Recipe

Ingredients

For the Bread:
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup yogurt (plain, unsweetened)
1 cup water (lukewarm)
2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil (plus extra for brushing the pan)

Optional toppings:
Melted butter for brushing
Chopped herbs like parsley or rosemary
Garlic powder or zaatar

Directions

In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yogurt and water gradually, mixing with your hands or a spoon until a soft dough forms. Drizzle in the vegetable oil and knead gently in the bowl until smooth. If the dough feels too sticky, add a tablespoon of flour at a time.

Divide the dough into 8-10 equal balls. Using a rolling pin, roll each ball into a round disc about 1/4 inch thick.

Heat a non-stick skillet or pan over medium heat and lightly brush with oil. Place one flatbread in the pan and cook for 1-2 minutes until bubbles form on the surface and the bottom has golden brown spots. Flip and cook the other side for 1-2 minutes.

Repeat with the remaining dough, brushing the pan lightly with oil as needed.
